HEARTS IN SAN FRANCISCO GALA: CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE

THE ASK

The San Francisco General Hospital Foundation sought to reimagine their signature Hearts in SF Gala to commemorate the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital’s 150th Anniversary. This milestone event required moving from the pre-pandemic venue at Oracle Park to the iconic San Francisco City Hall, an indoor location befitting such a significant celebration. The challenge extended beyond just the venue change; we needed to redesign the Gala's format into a Fundraiser Awards Ceremony, followed by an After Party Celebration.

Ensuring that the 1,000 pound Heart Sculptures, central to the event's identity, were prominently displayed and auctioned for maximum visibility was paramount. Additionally, the event had to accommodate dignitaries, including Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, who was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Peridot Events was entrusted with full-service planning, design, and production to deliver a seamless and impactful experience that honored the hospital’s legacy while setting a new standard for future galas.

This event was part of our ongoing partnership with SFGHF, adding to a series of landmark celebrations we've helped bring to life. From a virtual broadcast at Oracle Park during the height of the Covid pandemic to an immersive 150th Anniversary Gala at City Hall, each event we design is tailored to surpass fundraising goals while honoring the community's spirit and resilience.

THE ANSWER

We transformed San Francisco City Hall into a dynamic canvas, seamlessly blending history and innovation. Using projection mapping, we turned the iconic architecture into a storytelling medium, featuring the renowned Heart Sculptures of San Francisco. A specially composed score enhanced the immersive experience, making the hearts appear to emerge from the walls, captivating attendees. The evening flowed from the dignitaries' entrance to the celebration at the Hearts After Dark Party, headlined by DJ Mix Master Mike, where 800 guests danced in honor of the extraordinary efforts of healthcare workers and the community during the pandemic.
